Although the Blackburn Center is geared to domestic and sexual violence it is appropriate to feature during National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Much violence against children—including spouse violence—occurs in the home, and children learn domestic violence and sexual abuse behavior in their homes. The chain must be broken.
If you are a victim of domestic or sexual violence, the BLACKBURN CENTER can help. All of our services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL, and are available for women, children and men. If you need immediate help, please call our 24 hour hotline at 724-836-1122 or 1-888-832-2272.
BLACKBURN CENTER advocates for the rights of all individuals to live free from domestic and sexual violence in their homes and communities by eliminating the root causes of this violence and providing for the well-being and safety of survivors/victims.
SUPPORT OUR SIGNATURE EVENT:
WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES
April 16, 2016 at Saint Clair Park in Greensburg, PA
Our signature event, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, takes place each April in Greensburg. Walkers from Westmoreland County and beyond come together to support Blackburn Center’s mission to end domestic and sexual violence, and to raise awareness about these issues. Some wear high heels, while others prefer sneakers. Some carry signs, and others walk without signs. One thing they all have in common is a desire to speak out against gender violence.
Our 2016 event will take place on April 16, 2016 at Saint Clair Park in Greensburg (register here!).
Even if you can’t make the Walk, you can still support our efforts! Help us by spreading the word about the Walk. On social media, share our website and event registration page, or use our #WalkBlackburn graphic. You can also help our mission by making a tax-deductible donation…by mailing a check to our administrative office:
PO Box 398

We appreciate your support!
