LENTEN PHOTOS 2016: Week 3

February 25-March 2, 2016

During 2016 Rethink Church, a ministry of the United Methodist (Church) Communications, is sponsoring a Lent photo-a-day challenge based on reflections and perceptions of their word for the day.

Each Thursday during Lent I will post the coming week’s words and matching photos—sometimes with an explanation.

The words for week 3 of 2016 Lent, February 25-March 2 are joy, see, heal, celebrate, thirst, witness, found.

JOY

The joy of bringing home a new pet: our daughter Sandy with

Apollo. Joy, unlike happiness, is not fleeting.

SEE

Rosalie (a real person from 1791), the main character in my

historic novel, climbed Schoodic Mountain in Maine to see

her promised land. Like Moses, she never lived on this land

where she planned on developing a French community.

HEAL

940103-01Ee

In the winter of 1994 my husband Monte slipped on an

icy hill and had to be taken to the doctor by ambulance. His body

needed time to heal. Ultimately, God heals all wounds.

CELEBRATE

Bonnie and Ron Fleischer renew their wedding vows in 1997

A wedding anniversary is a time for celebrating, which

Ron and Bonnie Fleisher did by renewing their wedding

vows. We all need to celebrate God by renewing our

commitment to Him during Lent.

THIRST

P8300022-A

I quenched my thirst at Fontaine Leval, a spring in Lamoine,

Maine. Rosalie, an emigrant from the French Revolution,

purchased a farm near the spring in 1791.

Rosalie is the main character in my historic novel.

Water—a gift from God—sustains life.

WITNESS

No matter how many times the Hill of Crosses is

destroyed, it is always been replaced, witnessing

to the Word of God.

FOUND

It once was lost but then was found. As God’s children we often

become lost and must find our way back to Him.
