WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH YOUR LEAP SECOND?

Occurring at midnight on June 30, 2015

The earth is slowing down a little bit, according to the Paris Observatory. It announced On January 5, 2015,  that in June an extra second will be added to the clock.

At midnight—rather just before midnight—on June 30th clocks will read 11:59:60, making 2015 longer by a Leap Second. The first leap second was added in 1972, and it will be the 26th time it has been added to clocks in history.

I wrote the following poem, One Second: Oh, What Shall I Do?, to celebrate having one second more on June 30.

For the past several months, since I heard about this Leap Second, I’ve conducted a survey, asking people What Will You Do With Your June 30, 2015, Leap Second? Interestingly enough, few people even knew the extra second.

Below is a list of the responses I received.
