The gazebo on the Ligonier, Pennsylvania, diamond is adorned in black ribbons and its flag is being flown at half-staff in honor of police Lt. Eric Eslary, 40, who died in the early hours of May 5, 2015, in a car crash while on duty. The near head-on collision occurred with a car driving east in the westbound lane of Rt. 30.150509 IMG_4919E2

At the accident scene, Blek, Eslary’s K9 partner, was so protective of Eslary that Mrs. Eslary had to be called to the scene to calm the dog so first-responders could tend to Eslary.
